Pricing Outline
At Kangaroo Kitchen & Catering will like to provide our client's with an event agreement that is itemized and based on their individual request and event details such as event venue, set-up requirement, rental requirement and staffing. The below notes are an outline of the some of the individual charges that a client may find on their agreement or invoice.
There will never be any hidden charges other than those openly discussed at a catering meeting and those openly listed on a client's proposal/agreement.
Production Fee
For catering events for which event planning, meetings, catering set up and service staff are requested, a production/admin % (based on event location and set up requirements) is charged for each event. The production/admin fee covers administration, insurance, transportation (including delivery of food and pick up and set up of required equipment - not including rental), and related event overhead costs - in-person meetings if requested, site visits at your event location if requested, set up and other event details - arrangement of all required rental (not including the actual rental cost) behind the scenes service and kitchen staff at your event and the supply of all required items for the set-up of your buffet or service of your sit down dinner.
Staffing Requirements
Kangaroo Kitchen & Catering can provide all service staff for your event. Staffing requirements are based on your individual event requests, set-up and service requirements and the type of menu catered. Staffing requirements and costs based on your individual event will be listed on your event proposal. Service staff hours are based on when they arrive at your event to when they leave. The time frame of service hours will be discussed at your event meeting.
Service staff hours are based on the time frame of your event. Break down of your event space will be taken care of by our staff if the time falls within the staff hours charged for. Exactly who will take care of what during break down should be discussed at your event meeting.
If your event falls outside a 15 mile radius from Grand Rapids, staff hours will be calculated from the time the service staff leave the kitchen in Grand Rapids to the time they return.
Gratuity
Our staff get paid an hourly rate and do not rely on gratuity for their pay. Gratuity is then something that is always appreciated for a job well done but never expected. If you wish to pay gratuity, it may be paid as an additional sum on your invoice check or as cash. It will then get divided among all our service and kitchen staff that worked on creating your event.
Rental Requirements
There may be an additional cost for rental requirements such as linens, tables and chairs, china plates, silverware and glassware etc. Most rental can be arranged through Kangaroo Kitchen.
Rental Note Client Provided China or Glassware
When a client supplies their own china plates, silverware and or glassware, or rents directly from another vendor, Kangaroo Kitchen & Catering cannot, and will not, be responsible for any loss or damage. Traveling Fee
For catering drop-offs and on-site catering events there may also be an additional traveling fee charged if your event is outside a 15 mile radius from Grand Rapids. It is charged at $2 for every one way mile over 15 miles.

The final event cost of all catering supplied by Kangaroo Kitchen & Catering is subject to a 6% Michigan sales tax charge unless the client is tax exempt. The agreement will serve as a legal document holding the client party responsible to the agreed upon terms. Kangaroo Kitchen and Catering may though break the agreement at their discretion at any time. Any cancellation by the client will follow the cancellation policies outlined herein.
Secure the Date Deposit
A “secure the date” deposit of $250 is requested to confirm and hold a client's requested date. The save the date deposit will have Kangaroo Kitchen hold the date for 3 months or until 7 days after the client's scheduled tasting, which ever date comes first. The deposit is nonrefundable but does get credited towards the client's event should the client decide to go ahead and book Kangaroo Kitchen as their caterer. Until the above save the date deposit, or the initial 25% event deposit, has been paid, the requested event date does remain open and available to other inquiries and will then get secured for whoever confirms the date first with a deposit. If after your tasting, or the three month hold date, you wish to no longer go ahead with having Kangaroo Kitchen cater your event, the event will be canceled and both parties will forgo any further responsibly or commitment including any future deposits or payments.
Deposits
An initial deposit in the amount of 25% (50% for parties under $500) of the estimated total cost is required within 2 weeks of confirming a client's event.

Final payment is due one week before a client's event date and will be based on the client's final guaranteed guest count.

The client's final guaranteed guest count is required 14 days prior to the client's scheduled event. The guaranteed guest count must be no less than 15% below the client's initial arranged guest count in order for the per person menu costs to remain the same. Should a client's guest count drop to below 15% of the guest count in the initial proposal, a new agreement will be written up based on the new guest count which may result in a higher per person menu cost.
Once the guaranteed guest count is confirmed, it is understood to be a minimum and may no longer be decreased. If Kangaroo Kitchen and Catering is unable to obtain the guaranteed count from the client within 14 days of the client's event date, Kangaroo Kitchen and Catering will use the estimated number of guests provided at the time signing the agreement.
Any additional guests that end up attending the event will be charged for at the full per person guest cost.
